Behavior Support Solutions :

We are a team of BCBA’s, BCaBA’s, RBT’s, special education teachers, and other professionals who are dedicated to improving the lives of those with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Program Philosophy and Goals: Behavior Support Solutions strives to promote healthier families and assist those individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities to meet their potential by decreasing behavior issues, and increasing social skills and communication skills. Behavior Support Solutions only uses positive behavior supports that are research proven and considered best practices in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Behavior Support Solutions will provide services:

  1. 1. Based on the scientific principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. This includes manipulating antecedent variables as well as consequences to change and modify behaviors.
  2. 2. By determining the function of the problem behavior and teach the replacement behavior that serves the same function.
  3. 3. Problem behaviors will be defined in terms that are observable and measurable, and specific to each individual client.

Intervention methods and techniques used:

Strategies, which include antecedent as well as consequence variables. This may include, but is not limited to the following: teaching a replacement behavior that serves the same function, decreasing stimuli that may irritate the client, and reinforcing appropriate behaviors and skills. Strategies may include Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual supports (i.e.: visual schedules, task analysis), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), and other research based intervention strategies.

The normative principle will be used to ensure that clients are included in the same type of activities and interests as their same aged, non-disabled peers.

Behavior Support Solutions will only provide positive behavior supports. No punishment procedures or aversive procedures will be used. In addition, Behavior Support Solutions Staff will not provide parents or guardians with information on how to implement punishment or aversive procedures. Staff will refer parents or guardians on research evidence which shows using positive reinforcement and teaching appropriate replacement behaviors is the most effective method in changing negative behaviors. If a parent or other family member insists on using a punishment or other aversive procedure, Behavior Support Solutions will only advise the parent or family on the use of non-aversive and research proven procedures. We will not condone or advise the use of any punishment or aversive procedure.
